What is it about high tea that begs one to wear patterns, especially florals?
Perhaps it’s the flower petals mixed into the butter or steeping in the teapot.
Maybe it’s because nasturtiums and fuchsias and roses are scattered on almost every plate.
Or is it the multiple tiny vases of fresh flowers on each table?
Welcome to Afternoon Tea at the Westport Hotel & Old Abalone Pub in the tiny coastal hamlet of Westport, population sixty.
And even though the food is as visually appetizing as it is delicious, and the waitress graciously flits from table to table though faced with a sudden swelling population,
it is the deepening of relationships fostered by the intimacy and spirit of this place that leaves its mark.
