Living room. Hmm… 
A room that’s for living? 
A room that’s alive? 
Our living room is both: 
a place we hang out together, 
a place where objects are alive with memories of their own lives. 
The God in which I believe is also known as “The Living God,” 
even though unseen, 
even though, by many, unfelt. 
God’s existence is often put to question, and although I understand why, this has not been part of my spiritual journey. 
For me, God is like my living room: 
a place where I want to spend time, 
a place where I am more alive, 
a place that can always embrace one more…

My feet are once again forbidden from hiking, so here I am, in my office. I look to the left
then to the right. I’ve had a mishmash aesthetic as long as I can remember.
The owners of a motel I stayed in recently had the same idea.
I’m drawn to strange art. I came across this along a stairway in the woods.
I like lichen. It’s nature’s way of decorating rocks.
And flies. Say what you like about flies, but they are fascinating from a color and design perspective.
Plants are fantastic: from leaf
to seed.
And don’t get me started about water: gorgeous! From its frothing falls
to its still pools
to its inception in the clouds.
I enjoy human-made objects, too. After all, I’m an artist. I can see beauty in decrepit bowling balls.
Or ornate cash registers.
It’s all in how you see. Eyes of love and creativity give everything a lift. Practice seeing anew. Look to your left. Then to your right. What do you see now?
