There are times I must drive through a storm to reach my destination.
I can see the squall from a distance … approaching … menacing.
I hope, I plead it will pass me by as it comes closer.
But then I’m suddenly engulfed in a pelting darkness.
My mind turns over the phrase “the only way out is through” —through the fear, turmoil, sadness, grief — I need to experience all of it, deeply.
Afterwards, I’m shocked how quickly a patch of blue appears.
When the next storm approaches, I know there’s light on the other side. I still find it difficult to drive through the disturbance, but the panic lessens just a bit.
And now I’m looking for the blue, reaching for the blue, finding the blue — the welcoming blue light.
