Many Quakers use the term “The Light” to refer to The Divine.
And why not?
The smallest amount of light can dispel darkness.
Light helps us glow from within and find our inner strength.
Light surrounds us with comfort when we feel prickly.
Light can create in us a spirit of rejoicing.
Even when we try to close ourselves off,
The Light gently opens us
and gives us the confidence to entertain joy,
perhaps even exuberance.
When we give The Light a chance to work within us,
we tend to see light in everyone else.
